This is the personal site of Paul Juby. I am responsible for the information it collects. If you have a question, or want me to delete anything about you, email paul@jubalizer.com.

The newsletter

If you sign up, I keep your email address, the date, the page you signed up on and the version of the sign-up wording you saw. I use them only to send you new essays.

The emails are sent by Brevo, an email service based in France. Brevo stores your address for me and records whether an email was opened or a link clicked.

You get one email asking you to confirm. Nothing else is sent until you click its link.

If you never confirm, or emails to your address cannot be delivered, I delete your address after 30 days.

If you confirm, I keep your address while you stay subscribed. Every email has an unsubscribe link. After you unsubscribe, I keep your address only as a record not to email you again. To have it deleted completely, email me and I will remove it from my list and from Brevo.

Spam protection

The sign-up form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that you are a person. It loads when you click into the form, and Cloudflare sees your IP address and some details of your browser to make that check.

Visit counter

Each page tells my own server that it was viewed: the page address, the site you came from and the type of device. It does not store your IP address. To count visitors rather than page views, it keeps a scrambled code made from your IP address and a key that changes every day, and deletes each code after 2 days. It sets no cookies, so it does not ask first.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics runs only if you click “Allow”. It then sets cookies and sends Google details of your visit, which I see as totals. The data is kept for 14 months. If you click “No thanks”, it never loads. If you change your mind later, “No thanks” stops it and deletes its cookies.

Hosting

The site runs on a server in Germany. Like most web servers, it logs each request, including your IP address, and keeps those logs for 30 days. Cloudflare handles the domain and forwards email sent to jubalizer.com addresses to me.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what I hold about you, or ask me to correct or delete it. If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
